Right — have been messing about with this thing for something like five months now and it's basically bookmarked at this point, so thought I'd write something up since a mate asked me a few days back. I'm in the UK, generally do football and horses, a fiver here and there, for context.
How I found it was honestly a bit daft — I never could get my head round what an each way payout actually came to when the place terms changed. I used to just guess and then be surprised. Now type the odds in before every slip, even a simple single bet.
Their single bet calculator tool is the part I use most — you put in stake and odds and you get the return instantly, fractional or decimal, doesn't matter. It also handles the fiddly ones — doubles and trebles returns, lucky 15s, yankees, which is where I always got it wrong. Have a go yourself, it lives at smarkets — free, no signup.
The thing that actually made a difference were the geekier extras. They've got an odds-to-probability calculator which shows you the overround, and a kelly staking calculator — I run quarter kelly since full stakes are terrifying. The dutch tool gets used a fair bit for when I'm covering two or three runners.
Not all sunshine though. The layout is very functional, let's say — zero polish, which honestly I don't mind but some will. On my phone it's usable but the acca grid make you pinch and zoom. There's nothing on the app store, it's browser only — slight shame but worth saying.
So yeah. Free, not plastered in adverts, works. If you honestly adds it up in their head, have a look — saved me a fair few dumb bets I'd have regretted.
